Solomon Islands Prime Minister hosted by Wellington business

The Solomon Islands High Commissioner, His Excellency Ishmael Mali Avui, hosted a special cocktail reception in Wellington on 30 July 2025 to welcome the Honourable Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands, Jeremiah Manele. The event was co-hosted by the Wellington Business Community, including members of the Natural Hazards Business Cluster, and brought together a diverse group of invited guests.

Guests enjoyed insightful presentations from the Prime Minister and leading business speakers, followed by an excellent networking opportunity over cocktails. Yogesh Kumar, Co-Chair of the Natural Hazards Business Cluster, highlighted the cluster’s vital role in promoting global resilience, particularly for regions impacted by natural hazards.

The Natural Hazards Business Cluster unites New Zealand organisations with world-class expertise in climate and disaster resilience. Like our Pacific neighbours, New Zealand faces challenges such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, and climate change. Our members are passionate about working alongside communities to build resilience and reduce risks,” Kumar said.

It was a fantastic evening celebrating collaboration, shared knowledge, and a commitment to strengthening resilience across the Pacific.
